  1. Have you ever tried to hide your identity on the Web or been the victim of fraud?

I have not ever been a victim of fraud, but I always hide my identity on the Web so people don’t copy my name and steal my private information the website needs to create an account.

I do think that it is ethical for high school and college students to create a Facebook profile using a pseudonym so people do not steal their name, especially if the website is not very trustworthy. For example, if a website is small and not very professional, it could use the information the people give them to steal and use the information against them. Also, more than once, people have lost their accounts or private information to hackers. In addition, you can learn to hack online which makes it much easier if they just have a computer or any object that can access the Web.

  3. I think it is very logical for a high school or college student to use a fake name, or pseudonym, in their Facebook account. If Facebook is a place to share all the stories you like to, you should. That doesn't necessarily mean that you want people to know who you are, as long as you can share your story. Later on, if they are in need of a job, you wouldn't want your employer to see anything you may have screwed up, even if you were just having a bit of fun. I really do not see why Facebook insists that you must have a valid name, as shown on a student ID or a credit card. I understand that many people would like to keep their name private, as just your name could open up a whole pathway to hackers and officials. Additionally, Facebook would never know that it isn't your real name, as long as it sounds like a decent substitute. What you show online affects a lot of your future life and jobs, so it seems wise that you don't ever share all of that information.

  4. Yes I try to hide my identity for the outside world but I have never been a victim of fraud.

No I do not think it is ethical for a highschool or college student to create a fake id on facebook. For example “Facebook says it has always taken the problem seriously, and recently stepped up efforts to cull fakes from the site”(www.nytimes.com). This shows that when a person makes a fake account it is simply going to be destroyed. Furthermore I don’t know a single person that likes to create something and then have it destroyed. For these reasons of the laziness of our country is why I personally think it is pointless to create false accounts.

  5. Lots of people use a pseudonym because sometimes they don’t want to be identified, mostly for security, or to not affect future employers, but Facebook says that your real name is required, so that’s where the problem starts. I personally would use a fake name if I were to post something that shouldn’t be seen to some people.

  6. I do try to hide my name in my email for example it doesn’t have my name in it but that is just because I don’t want anything to happen. I don’t have any other social media

I don’t think they should be hiding their accounts. If they don’t want future employers to see stuff they don’t want them to see don’t post it. People have always said “think before you speak” but in this case you should think before you post. I have also heard that before you say or post anything think about if you would still post this or say this if your grandma was to see the post or hear you comment. You shouldn’t regret posting something, if you do you probably shouldn’t have posted that.

  7. I do not think it is ethical for high school and college students to create a Facebook account using pseudonym. I think this because it is clearly in Facebook’s guidelines on what not to do.
If they are trying to hid from any future employers then they should just not post what they do not want to be seen. They should not hide their identity because if no one knows who they are and how they are like they can get hired for the wrong job.

  9. I do think it’s ethical for high school and college students to create a facebook profile using pseudonym because it is logical that they don't want to give their real identity to some untrustful website that has the probability of getting you hacked.

  10. I think that the blog was pretty realistic, because people making fake accounts is a real problem and people do it every day. Some people do it to get “free followers” but in reality you end up clicking on the link and the can get a hold of all of your personal information which in my opinion is a waste of time. You're not going to get anywhere with the personal informatio because sooner or later they are going to find out.

  11. When people want to hide their personal things like there phone number, where they live, there real name is because they want to be safe from Internet. The problem is that when you post something that is not about you that were the security comes on play they sometimes block your fake pictures fake name and all what you used.Sometimes you don't want to be find by your friends because you think they might laugh at you but I think it's better to not hide everything from you.

  12. I think it not good to pseudonym because they're still going to have the same face. Even that facebook has not let people do it.
